Forces of Geek Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

This weekend, Valentine’s Day, once again, rears its romantic head. For those of you out there, either without an idea, or may have forgotten about it entirely,

Here are five purchases that will make the holiday extra special.

PuroAir 130i Hepa Smart Air Purifier

The PuroAir 130i HEPA Smart Air Purifier is designed with convenience and style in mind. This small but mighty air cleaner is built to significantly enhance the air quality within spaces up to 600 sq ft. By effectively filtering indoor air, this device aims to make breathing easier and more comfortable for the whole family in a variety of rooms, from bedrooms and offices to living spaces.

At the core of the PuroAir 130i is its robust 3-layer filtration system. It starts by filtering larger particles like dust and pet hair with a pre-filter, which also extends the life of the entire filter. Then, the HEPA filter layer captures very small particles. Lastly, an activated carbon filter reduces odors, smoke and VOCs, leaving your home with nothing but clean, pure air. Together, these layers work to reduce up to 99.9% of airborne particles as small as 0.1 microns, including dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke, and various allergens. This advanced filtration process ensures that your home is filled with clean, healthy air.

Adding to its functionality, the PuroAir 130i offers modern conveniences through its smart features. The portable air cleaner can be connected to the PuroAir App via Wi-Fi, enabling users to control and monitor the air purifier remotely. Easily connect to third-party voice controls, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, for a hands-free way to adjust settings. Furthermore, the air purifier keeps you informed by sending notifications to ensure optimal performance and air quality at all times.

Experience cleaner air and peace of mind with PuroAir’s commitment to customer satisfaction. Enjoy benefits such as free same-day shipping, a 100-day cleaner air guarantee, and a lifetime warranty on your purifier with an active filter subscription.

It might not be the most romantic gift, but clean air might be best way to tell someone that you care about them.

Digital Television Series

One of the great evolutions of technology is the fact that you can now purchase entire television series via digital in a matter of minutes. No longer do you have to wait week to week, subscribe to a streaming service or even get off the couch. You can binge a marathon entire weekend away with your loved one watching an old favorite or a series that you’ve never watched before that you’re eager to watch.

And although television presents itself in a number of different genres, all of them virtually have love story as an ongoing component.

Here are several series currently available complete on digital that are worth your time, attention and binge. All are available on iTunes, Amazon Digital, and Fandango at Home (formerly Vudu):

Parks and Recreation:  Leslie Knope, a midlevel bureaucrat in an Indiana Parks and Recreation Department, hopes to beautify her town (and boost her own career) by helping local nurse Ann Perkins turn an abandoned construction site into a community park, but what should be a fairly simple project is stymied at every turn by oafish bureaucrats, selfish neighbors, governmental red tape and a myriad of other challenges. Leslie’s colleague Tom Haverford, who delights in exploiting his position for personal gain, is as likely to undermine her efforts as to help her, while her boss, Ron Swanson, is adamantly opposed to government in any form, even though he’s a bureaucrat himself.

Why The Binge? Besides being ridiculously funny, love and relationships are the backbone of this series, from Leslie and Ben to Chris and Ann to April and Andy to Ron and his various Tammy’s, Parks and Rec is a must see.

Moonlighting: After being cleaned out by her no-good manager, model Maddie Hayes is about to sell one of her few remaining assets, the Blue Moon Detective Agency – until snarky employee David Addison talks her out of it, saving his job and launching a new career for her.

Why The Binge? Pure fire that cooled off as the series progressed, no series has captured the art of screwball comedy as well as Cybil Shepherd and Bruce Willis did in Moonlighting.

New Girl: After going through a rough breakup, awkward and upbeat Jess (Zooey Deschanel) moves in with three single guys. Intelligent and witty Nick is an underachiever who took the bartender off-ramp on his road to success. Schmidt obsesses over his social standing and looks at Jess as a personal project. Winston is a competitive former athlete who, after realizing he will never become a pro, moves into the loft. Together with Jess’ best friend, Cece, they bond to form an unlikely, and dysfunctional, family.

Why The Binge? Another ensemble which finds the characters all finding love.

Bob Hearts Abishola: Bob, a middle-aged compression sock businessman from Detroit, unexpectedly falls for his cardiac nurse while recovering from a heart attack and sets his sights on winning her over. Undaunted by Abishola’s lack of initial interest or the vast differences in their backgrounds — she’s originally from Nigeria — Bob is determined to win Abishola’s heart in this comedic examination of immigrant life in America.

Why The Binge? Capturing love at first sight, beyond any normal conventions, with two people from different worlds and cultures finding one another and truly becoming partners.

Castle:  Bored with his success, celebrated mystery novelist Rick Castle teams with NYPD Detective Kate Beckett to solve the case of a copycat killer who re-creates murder scenes from Rick’s novels. While solving the case, the two realize that their unorthodox partnership has its benefits and decide to continue working together. Combining his writer’s intuition with her creative detective work, they investigate strange homicides in New York, all the while building a strong, if complicated, relationship with each other.

Why The Binge? Romance with tension is always good television. TV’s current most watchable actor, Nathan Fillion, anchors the series with a twinkle in his eye, his tongue planted in cheek, and a more than qualified foil in love interest Stana Katic.

Superman and Lois: After years of facing supervillains, monsters and alien invaders, the world’s most famous superhero, The Man of Steel aka Clark Kent and comic books’ famed journalist Lois Lane come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever — dealing with being working parents in today’s society. Complicating the already daunting job of raising two boys, Clark and Lois worry about whether their sons, Jonathan and Jordan, could inherit their father’s Kryptonian superpowers as they grow older. Returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business, Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang and her Fire Chief husband, Kyle Cushing. The adults aren’t the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle’s rebellious daughter, Sarah. Of course, there’s never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois’ father, Gen. Samuel Lane looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment’s notice.

Why The Binge? Another facet of two of the most endearing characters in popular culture, Superman (Clark Kent) and Lois Lane are reimagined as parents of teen boys. Behind all of the spectacle and sensationalized story, the series shines best when Clark and Lois display their unconditional love with one another.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist:  After an unusual event, whip-smart computer coder Zoey Clarke magically begins to hear people’s innermost wants and desires through popular songs. Suddenly, strangers, friends, co-workers and family are unknowingly singing their feelings — just to her. At first, Zoey questions her own sanity, but after some guidance from Mo, her musically attuned neighbor, and making a breakthrough with her ailing father, Zoey soon realizes this unwanted curse may just be an amazing and wonderful gift –as she now connects with the world like never before.

Why The Binge? A sleeper series guided by the search for love backed by an amazing soundtrack and countless musical numbers.
