Thanks to FOG! for giving me the chance to share some of the behind the scenes on the production of the music video for John Carpenter’s Utopian Facade.
My partner and fellow director-producer Ben Verhulst and I had the great pleasure of creating the Night video for John Carpenter’s first album, Lost Themes. When the opportunity came to do a video for Lost Themes II, we jumped at the chance.
We also knew we didn’t want to traipse over the same ground. We had always intended should we get the chance, to make a video that was connected to the first one. But lightly. It needed to stand on its own, but the hardcore Carpenter fans would understand it was an interconnected universe.
And with the song bringing such distinct visions, we were led down the path of the Android in the woods at night.
So we brought together a fantastically creative team and performers who really brought this thing to life. It was two very late nights in the woods, but it was worth it. It’s hard work getting a production with FX completed but it is fun hard work. I’ll let the BTS photos do the talking.
Big, big thank you to everyone who came together to make the video happen. Ben Verhulst, Cig Neutron, Rannie Rodil, Chris Marchwinski, Ian Von Cromer, John Wrightson, Jennifer Garnet Filo, Kimber Parrish, Guity Rafik and George Frangadakis, Stuart Morales, Kyle Van Vonderen, Brett Gustafson, Joe Mac, Katie Townley, Glenn Blakeslee, Scary Mary Rangel, Erika Angel and many others who were not on the production team.
