‘Snelson #1’ (review)

Ahoy Comics really does put out some of the best comic books on the stands. The stories are smart, funny, and sweet. The books are strong and well drawn and I really am enjoying every issue and series as they come out with.

This book focuses on Melvin Snelson who is a former stand up comic. He is a standup comic from the 1990’s who had it all. He was really popular due to his shock humor and his offensiveness.

However, things have changed.

Now it is present day and his jokes don’t quite land the way they used to. In fact, he is a has been. So, he does the only thing that he can do. He joins a bunch of socially conscious comedians and goes on the road with them.

Snelson is in danger of being cancelled for good. He has to try to get it together but he can’t seem to.

His entire career and his entire life may be in jeopardy.

Can he do anything about it or is it all over for him?

The story is very fun. It is also very timely.

There are some really great moments throughout this first issue. The artwork is good and fits this perfectly. I loved every part of this and it was a pleasure to read.

I am interested as to where this is headed as well.
