‘Black’s Myth #1’ (review)

Written by Eric Palicki
Art by Wendell Cavalcanti
Published by Ahoy Comics

I really love what Ahoy brings to the table. Every comic book that they put out is strong and well thought out.

Black’s Myth is no exception. It is smart and well written and really well done. This might be another winner for them.

This book introduces us to Janie “Strummer” Jones. She is a private investigator who also happens to be a werewolf. We get introduced to her in a really interesting beginning that sets up the series very nicely.

The setting of this book is Los Angeles.

Janie gets the case of her lifetime dropped into her lap. It is a career making case. It is also a case that is very dangerous. We get the set up to the book and an inkling as to where this is all headed.

It is really cool to see Janie and her djinn assistant Ben Si’lat start to piece things together. Ben is a really great character, very well developed. By the end of the book, I was hooked and wanted to see more.

The writing of this book is very unique. Palicki does a great job with the script. The art is very unique as well. The pair make an excellent creative team.

Overall, I loved this. I can’t wait to see what is next.

RATING: A
