‘American Vampire 1976 #3’ (review)

Written by Scott Snyder
Art by Rafael Albuquerque
Published by DC Comics

Man, this series is great.

Writer Scott Snyder and artist Rafael Albuquerque really have picked right up where they left off with this book in this new series. This is a well done revival that really keeps you on your toes.

It has gone to places that I was certainly not expecting so far in this exciting run.

This issue has two different storylines going on.

Both of them are extremely intriguing and both relate seamlessly. We start off with Skinner and his crew in the Southwest. They are aboard the Freedom Train.

And they are fighting for their lives on it.

This segment of the story is breathlessly paced and completely exciting. Skinner and gang are fighting against the last members of the VMS. This is hell of a scene. It also directly impacts what is happening at the same time in Times Square in New York City.

In Times Square, we get to see Travis and Cal doing a bit of investigating. They are looking for a trace of the Beast that is interested in world domination. Sadly, they come up against this Beast and things get rather dark. It is a hell of an ending to say the least.

There is a huge twist in this issue. But it is well earned. Snyder puts a hell of lot of work into his scripts and this issue is no different. It is a great story. And Albuquerque does great on the art as well.

This is a solid book from cover to to cover!
