The first issue of this new series started off decently enough. It had some interesting ideas to it but I was unsure of which way it might go.
This second issue here really gets things going and it really delivers on some of the concepts in that first issue.
In the first issue, Amanda Waller went about getting Superboy under her control. At the beginning of this issue here, we see her send him on his first task.
Where does she send him?
Why, Arkham Asylum of course. Waller wants Superboy to bring back two new members for the Squad.
The first of these two members is Peacemaker.
The motivation why Waller wants him is pretty murky, but whatever.
The other new member she wants for the team is Talon, the assassin for the Court of the Owls.
We get to see Superboy head to the asylum and the results of his visit.
Superboy does go through a bit of an emotional journey while he obtains these two new members. But sure enough, he gets them and we see them join the newly formed team. This leads to seeing what Waller’s bigger plans may be, and we see where this series may go from here.
This issue is a bit better than the first issue.
Writer Robbie Thompson seems to have an idea of where he wants to take this, and I am hoping his plans are good ones. The art by Pansica is decent as well. All in all, this isn’t bad and may get more interesting as the series progresses.
