Cannes was all a flutter last night with the return of those kids who have got the ability to morph, and to even up the score.
I’ve always wanted to write that.
Yep, The Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers are returning to television. Again. This time, they’re coming to Nickelodeon, but first stop on their publicity tour is MIPCOM, where I’m stationed amongst a motley assortment of television executives and celebrities. I’ve seen stranger sights here in Cannes, but nothing as fantastic as the instant energy that filled the room as the trash-rock tones of the MMPR theme song rocked the room and cut through our champagne buzz.
Exclusive footage personally shot by my handheld Casio Exilim, as if you can’t tell…
Even more exciting was this morning’s panel on THE WALKING DEAD, which featured stars Sarah Wayne Callies and Andrew Lincoln and appearing for the first time ever anywhere outside of the United States, creator Robert Kirkman.
Being the only true fanboy in the room, I was able to get this tidbit of information out of him.
Although Kirkman feels the switch from the comic’s stark black and white to color television series is done stylishly and enhances the storytelling, director/show-runner Frank Darabont does want to release the season one DVD with an optional black and white version of the series.
Or, as Kirkman states, “you can also just turn down the color on your television.”
