‘Detective Comics #1002’ (review)

Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Illustrated by Brad Walker
Published by DC Comics

The Arkham Knight has arrived in Gotham City and he is already causing a hell of a lot of havoc! The last issue was insane as the Knight put Batman and the rest of Gotham through their paces.

Now, he is ready to strike!

Tomasi wastes no time getting things going either! The Arkham Knight has the Batman’s head under his foot. Batman asks, “What did you unleash on my City?”

The Knight replies, “Your city? So incredibly arrogant. I don’t recall ever having given it to you.”

I was hooked at that point and was excited about this book like you wouldn’t believe.

Batman is saved, of course, by the police.

Then, an all out war erupts! It’s a beautifully drawn sequence by Brad Walker as well. He really nails the action perfectly and it’s clear and concise. And it just gets more and more intense as the issue progresses onward.

That battle ends, and the Knight gets away! Bruce goes back to the Batcave to lick his wounds. That’s when Damian joins the investigation! Damian makes a discovery and goes underwater to see if it pans out. It’s a strong scene but Damian eventually gets captured by the Knight.

We get to see Damian being held captive. But he’s very tricky and smart so he gets away! But at the last second the Arkham Knight stops and corners him. The Knight takes off his helmet and Damian sees who is underneath! And that is where we end the issue!

The only bad thing about this comic book is that I want more right away! The story is great and the art is spectacular. They are really doing a great job. What will happen next? I don’t know but I cannot wait to see!

RATING: A
