‘Dark Nights: Death Metal #6’ (review)

Written by Scott Snyder
Art by Greg Capullo
Published by DC Comics

This series has been a hell of a lot of fun thus far. This is the penultimate issue and man, it is a fun time!

Writer Scott Snyder and artist extraordinaire Greg Capullo have taken us to some really interesting places with this. I am happy to say that this issue is as fun as the others and just as crazy.

After the events of the last few issues, we are treated to all out war!

Now, I say that but it is even nuttier than I could ever have imagined.

There are heroes everywhere! There are villains! And they best part is that they are working together to stop this horrible demon and his horde.

This battle is beautifully illustrated by Greg Capullo.

He really does great work here, making the battle clean and easy to follow, yet completely exciting. The villain of the piece is getting closer to fulfilling his goal and if he is not stopped, everything will go to hell.

Meanwhile, we get to see Robin King.

He has his Groblins at the ready. He may go into the fray before the issue ends.

And the ending of this issue?

Well, it is completely unexpected. I don’t want to spoil anything but it may be the darkest moment of the entire series thus far.

The story by Snyder is great. It is fun and wacky and just a joy. It is also very impactful and personal. Working with Capullo is when Snyder is at his best (and vice versa). That is certainly the case here as this series looks as though it is going to end on a real high note.
