Dale Cooper, Laura Palmer, Audrey Horne and Bobby Briggs Are Headed Back To TWIN PEAKS

Earlier this week, Showtime Network President David Nevins was joined onstage during his presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour by Kyle MacLachlan who stepped out onstage in the black suit of Special Agent Dale Cooper drinking a trademark cup of coffee.

MacLachlan was officially the first actor to be announced to be returning to Showtime’s new Twin Peaks series which will air next year during the 25th anniversary of the cult series.

According to Nevins, David Lynch and fellow executive producer Mark Frost will write all nine episodes of the limited series, and Lynch will direct every episode.  As part of the agreement, the original series will be rerun before the reboot airs, and Frost and Lynch will have complete creative control, “I just write the checks and let them do their show.”

One difference, however, is that the reboot will be more accessible than the original series, which frustrated even the most die-hard fans of the show.  According to Nevins, “David promised that there will be closure.”

According to Welcome To Twin Peaks, Agent Cooper won’t be the sole cast member officially announced for very long.

While attending the Twin Peaks UK Festival, actors Sheryl Lee (Laura and Maddie Palmer) and Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs), revealed their participation in the reboot.

And according to Ashbrook, he received a text message from Sherilyn Fenn:

I talked to David. We’re going back to Twin Peaks. We’re gonna have some fun!

Hopefully we’ll be hearing some more announcements soon about other returning cast members.
