‘Future State: Superman vs. Imperious Lex #2’ (review)

Written by Mark Russell
Art by Steve Pugh
Published by DC Comics

Man, this book is pretty damn excellent.

The creative team has done an extraordinarily amazing job on this title. It is an intelligent look at these old comic book characters. It is also funny and highly entertaining from start to finish.

In a crazy turn of events, Lexor has joined the United Planets!

The first thing it makes you wonder, just what is Lex Luthor up to? We start to see a lot of his plans come into play. We also see the plan start to develop and really come into fruition.

While this is going on, Lex discovers something that makes him want to cheat on his deal and make a profit at it.

Lois Lane and Superman discover what that plan is and aim to get Lex into some serious trouble.  But Lex isn’t going to take this lying down.

So he does what any bad villain would do.

He imprisons both Lois and Superman. He also begins to turns people against the two of them with propaganda!

So what ends up happening is the whole planet Lois and Superman are on begins to hate the two of them. The results are both hilarious and horrifying.

Writer Mark Russell and artist Steve Pugh are two amazing creators. The writing here is superb as it  always is from Russell. Same for Pugh. The art is fantastic.

I love this book and I am only sad that it will only be three issues.

RATING: A
