2018 was a fantastic year for games with titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War, and Fortnite taking the world by storm. It is going to be hard to top that, but the gaming industry usually finds a way.

If you are wondering what to play in 2019, there are some existing and upcoming games which are all worthy of attention. Here are some that every gamer should try.

Resident Evil 2

Resident Evil 2 has long been considered the best offering in the long-running Capcom series, and has been due an update for modern players. That’s why in 2019 the original offering is getting a complete overhaul for present-day consoles. The new game already won the Best of Show award at the 2018 Game Critics Awards after its E3 2018 showing, and gamers are hyped about returning to Racoon City in this retro revival.

The original game was released in 1998 for PlayStation and other first generation consoles, and has since appeared in various lists of best games ever made. Capcom sold 4.96 million copies on PlayStation and the game was praised by critics at the time. It is likely that the reboot will be equally as successful and will attract a lot of nostalgia-seeking players.

Sparta: War of Empires

Sparta: War of Empires is another existing game, but one that fans of mobile gaming should most certainly check out if they enjoy online strategy epics. The game from Plarium was released in 2014, but because it is constantly being updated and refreshed it still feels new.

Sparta is set in 5th century BC, when ancient Greece was in turmoil and under threat from Xerxes and the Persian Empire. Players need to build an army capable of stopping Xerxes, but also sharpen their powers of diplomacy and strategy at the same time. This is an MMO which uses the freemium marketing model. Players collaborate with other gamers online and can pay for upgrades to progress faster.

Dead or Alive 6

A fighting game which is not to be missed in 2019 is the latest instalment of the long-running and hugely successful Dead or Alive franchise. Dead or Alive 6 is the latest in the series from Team Ninja which began in 1996 and has spanned eight generations of consoles in its rich history.

Team Ninja has been focusing on introducing new gameplay mechanics and enhancing the way it feels. Due to the extra emphasis on refining the game’s quality, though, the release date has been pushed back. It was originally scheduled to hit shelves in January, but will now be available to play in March.

2019 is set to be another fantastic year for gaming, and these three titles are just the start. Watch out for more online epics, mobile gems, and console adventures in the year ahead.
