‘The Scumbag #4’ (review)

Written by Rick Remender
Art by Roland Boschi, Moreno Dinisio
Published by Image Comics

Writer Rick Remender is clearly having a lot of fun with this new series from Image Comics. He writes some really dynamic stories here that have been dipped in lunacy.

This series and character reminds me of Lobo from back in the day and certainly feels inspired from that world.

In this issue, Ernie is reeling after his first three issues.

He has had a lot of problems and a lot of obstacles. So our resident Scumbag has to do something to get his mind off all of this.

That is when he gets wind of a intergalactic party and he decides to attend!

The great news is, Ernie is on the guest list!

It isn’t long though before this fun excursion turns into violence. Ernie gets caught up in some unfortunate business while he is there and all hell breaks loose before too long.

Sister Mary is there to make sure Ernie doesn’t cause too much of a ruckus. She doesn’t do too well as there are Scorpionus agents there after Ernie. This leads to a crazy ending which also teases about a bigger story behind this book.

The comic is just a good time.

Remender seemed to have wanted a vehicle to work with different artists and styles and this character seems built for that. The artist of this issue is Roland Boschi and he does a great job of fitting into this world and making some great artwork in the process.

Overall, this is a comic worth reading, and I had a lot of fun doing so.

RATING: A-
