‘Snow Angels #3’ (review)

Written by Jeff Lemire
Art by Jock

Published by ComiXology

Jeff Lemire is one hell of a writer (as well as an artist). Jock is one of the best artists that the comic book field has. The two of them have joined together to make this comic book, and it is one of the strangest things out there. It is also one of the most compelling ones as well.

Milliken and Mae and their father are walking the Trench.

The Trench is supposed to never end. They are now farther in it than they have ever been before. Now, the three of them have to also deal with things like they have never done before.

The family spends the issue walking down the Trench and getting involved with some of the sights along the way. They are fighting for their lives against the wintery conditions and the denizens of the Trench.

It gets a bit crazy, but terrifying as well.

The family arrive at a destination that they didn’t think was possible. There is a seeming end to the Trench. But that is impossible. Or is it? By the end of the issue we get to see some ramifications of this and a glimpse of where this series might be headed.

The story by Lemire is strong. I really like his writing here. It’s subtle yet has a lot of foreword momentum. The art by Jock is some of his best.

I am enjoying this very much and I am excited to see where this might go from here.

RATING: A
