‘Future State: Batman/Superman #2’ (review)

The first issue of this series was pretty great and this issue is as well.

This comic gives us a lot of background of why the Future State happened the way it did.

It is very well done and this issue shows us the rest of the story and also glimpses where this is all going.

In this issue, we get to see that Superman has fallen deep into the Magistrate’s caverns. Things are looking pretty bad for the Man of Steel. He also finds himself at the hands of a villain that I never thought he would encounter: the nefarious Professor Pyg.

We get to see the two of them face off a bit. It gets dark and somewhat psychological.

While this is going on, we get to see that the Magistrate is becoming more and more powerful. Batman is racing against the clock to figure out how to stop them and also find Superman to save him.

This all leads to one hell of a conclusion for this book.

I don’t want to spoil anything, but something major happens here. It is something that drives a wedge in Batman and Superman’s relationship. It’s pretty intense.

This is a well done issue. It is really well drawn and I really have to commend writer Gene Luen Yang. He really rises to the occasion writing this title (he is always great this is just a different story).

This is a must have book for anyone reading the Future State line of books.
