This book started off being really interesting and then went downhill rather quickly. The problem is that I feel it ran out of story a few issues back and they have been running on fumes since. I wish it was more interesting than that but it is not sadly.
The book just hasn’t picked up.
The beginning of the issue has a familiar scene.
Harley is questioning the Joker and she is trying to get information out of him. The Joker, of course, plays a psychological game with her that takes up the first part of the issue. It feels too familiar and sort of lame.
Harley knows that the Joker has killed her roommate. But she just can’t seem to get him to confess to it. The cat and mouse game between the two continue.
Time flashes back and forth. It should be more interesting than this.
Sadly, it never improves.
Harley is losing her reputation with the Gotham City Police Department. She knows that the Joker is goading her. So, she makes a decision.
That decision leads to a big confrontation in this issue. And Harley Quinn takes one more step towards her destiny as a villain.
So yes, the story doesn’t work for me. The art is pretty spectacular though, and much better than the script deserves. Suayan particularly is doing the art of his career. He really only gets better. Besides that though, this book sinks under it’s own weight.
