‘Archie Vs. Predator II’ TPB (review)

Written by Alex De Campi
Art by Robert Hack
Published by Archie Comics
and Dark Horse Comics

The first series of this combination of two universes was a good laugh. I couldn’t imagine where this could go after the first one. Alex De Campi always writes quality work but while I enjoyed the first, I wasn’t exactly salivating for more. Then l opened the book and saw that Robert Hack was the artist and I was sold!

This book starts off where the last one left off. Betty and Veronica are walking around Smallville with “Archie.”

This Archie though is actually a Predator. Long story.

Eventually, this Archie breaks into a car so the three of them can make a getaway and leave Riverdale.

They drive. Betty dreams. She sees Dilton and it is bizarre.

Then she wakes up. And they see themselves dressed up for Halloween.

Just what is going on here?

It is very meta and strange. Let me tell you though: I was hooked.

Veronica, Betty, and Predator Archie join their counterparts from another reality. It get weirder and funnier from here and I just loved it.

While this is all going on, a bunch of Predators are coming to Earth. And you just know that all of these characters are going to collide. When they do, it is a pure dark joy.

De Campi writes a solid script that could have went south quick.

Luckily, Hack can draw anything she throws at him with a straight face.

These two are some best creators out there. This was a series I wrote off before I read it as a money grab. It is anything but that and I am thankful it exists; it is twisted, dark, and hilarious.

I am adding this to my collection of books that I “must read again.” It’s awesome.

RATING: A
