I haven’t been enjoying Tynion’s run on this title thus far.
It just feels incredibly forced to me. A lot of elements just aren’t working. This book should be one of the flagship books in quality for DC. Instead, it feels like a confused mess.
We start off in Gotham City Hospital. The Penguin runs in and he is a bloody mess. He has a conversation with some of the workers there while they help him out. He tells them that Batman is currently working.
And that is when we cut over to where Batman presently is.
Batman is in the middle of a duel with Gunsmith.
This scene is especially well illustrated and has a nice level of excitement. After a really cool fight, Batman defeats the Gunsmith. He then declares that he is going to need another suit.
Harley Quinn then shows up and we get to see very quickly that Tynion doesn’t have too good of a take on her.
Harley and Catwoman have a scene together that eventually leads to a fight. It is a pretty dull scene overall.
The story leads up to a big Joker moment at the end. But it is so trite that I just didn’t care. Like I said, the art is pretty decent but this whole thing doesn’t add up to much.
Ah, well. Maybe it will pick up next time.
