‘Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #6’ (review)

Written by Matt Fraction
Art by Steve Lieber
Published by DC Comics

This is one heck of a wacky book. I really love the creative team of Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber working together. It is a book that is actually pretty amusing without being annoying. I am enjoying it much more than I thought I would.

The first page of this book was awesome.

Jimmy Olsen is in jail. He talks to the people in there and he is perfectly awkward. He is quickly bailed out and goes about his day.

Of course, trouble is just around the corner for out favorite nebbish photographer.

We then get to see some side stories for some of the characters.

We get to see Jix have a hilarious wedding. We get to see the assassin Nathan Guy go about his day. This story cracked me up especially. The Lex Cab moment is a scream and I laughed out loud. We get to see Detective Jimmy Corrigan III go about his day.

It is all very funny and it is pretty well thought out.

We get to see a cute moment at the Fortress of Solitude between Lois and Clark. The last story is the best where Jimmy is out for a night on the town. He eventually comes up against Batman. This is pretty funny and entertaining and it ends on a really wild note. I thought it was great.

This is a very different book. Fraction really has a knack for offbeat stories and it works wonderfully here. The art is quirky and very fun. It may be a book that is a little off the radar. But it is worth finding. It is a very entertaining comic book.

RATING: A-
