‘Collapser #4’ (review)

Written by Shaun Simon
and Mikey Way

Art by Ilias Kyriazis
Published by DC Comics

This has been a quirky title from the Young Animal line of books. It is a six issue miniseries that has a lot of big ideas and a ton of incredible moments. There is a lot going on but the story is told so well that I was intrigued throughout.

Liam is now the DJ Collapser. He has finally got all of the proper credentials and is ready to rock at his job!

There seem to be some people out there who do not want this to happen.

The opening sequence has Liam finishing his job. People are going crazy for him.

Liam goes to the bathroom. That is when he is attacked by an alien assassin.

He is saved by one of the Star People who takes him into space and shows him around. The scene ends when Liam is told to become a savior and star. It is all very interesting and thoughtful.

There is then a press conference by an elected official. The person is screaming up a storm. Then, a big alien like creature comes from outer space. It eats the elected official. People scream! They panic!

And from all of this, you just know that Liam has to be the one to save everyone.

And he does! He uses his power to save everyone. But this may lead to darker consequences for everyone.

How dark? Well, everyone might be doomed as a result of Liam’s actions. And there might not be anything he can do about it.

The story is unique and strong. The art by Ilias Kyriazis is nothing short of spectacular. This has been a great story overall and I really can’t wait to see how they finish it all up!

RATING: A-
