Fall is almost upon us, and with it, dozen upon dozens of new shows. With the old standby networks ruling the roost at Prime Time, as well as the new streaming service and cable stations, it is easy to get lost among the offerings.
For your watching convenience, here is a small smattering of the fall standouts for 2018.
They range from spooking reboots to new laugh riots to potential award bait.

The Bad Seed (Lifetime)

There ain’t nothing creepier on this Earth than evil little kids who have the tendency to smile all the time. Starring Rob Lowe as a befuddled father who slowly begins to realize that his perfect daughter (Mckenna Grace) is the spawn of Satan, this show promises to have any childless gal swallowing fistfuls of birth control pills by the time the series concludes.

Camping (HBO)
October 14
Girls‘ creators Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner return to the Home Box Office with this half-hour laffer starring David Tennant, Jennifer Garner and Juliette Lewis. The comedy looks to tackle the outdoors and chipper people in general.

Charmed (CW)
October 14
A reboot of Power of Three that brought us a trio of witch sisters who used their powers to keep chokers, clogs and midriffs in style for as long as possible.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Netflix)
October 26
The recent comic book reboot of Sabrina Spellman gets a small screen adaptation by the streaming service. Gone are the laugh track, kooky sidekicks and feel good endings of the ‘90s sitcom. This time around, things have gone rotten in the town of Greendale as the evil Madam Satan casts a deadly spell on the locals.

The First (Hulu)
September 14
House of Cards guru Beau Willimon returns to the tube with this sci-fier about the first expedition to Mars. Show stars Sean Penn in his first small screen effort, as well as Gilmore Girls’ Keiko Ageno and Melissa George.

Maniac (Netflix)
September 21
It scribe Cary Fukunaga take things to the deep end in this trippy thriller about a duo (Emma Stone and Jonah Hill) to embark on drug trials that go wrong. Very wrong. Series also stars Justin Theroux as the doctor who prescribes would-be happy pills, Sally Field and Ozark star Julia Garner.

Manifest (NBC)
September 24
It’s Lost, sans JJ. A plane experiences a little turbulence, but instead of losing their lunch, the crew and passengers lose about five years. Stars Josh Dallas and J.R. Ramirez.

Mayans MC (AMC)
September 4
The long-awaited spin-off from Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy featured sometimes rival, sometimes compadre biker gang. Headed by PD Parder, Edward James Olmos and Danny Pino, the world of SACMO continues in a big, bold direction.

The Neighborhood (CBS)
October 1
The best thing any Prime Time network can do at this point is give Max Greenfield more to do. In this laffer, the former New Girl star moves into a predominantly black neighborhood where hijinks ensue. And presumably antics.

The Purge (USA)
September 4
All of the uncertainty of the movies but now in series format. Starring Gabriel Chavarria, Jessica Garza and Hannah Emily Anderson, the USA series promises to make good on the blood and gore of the film series while giving away very little of the plot.

The Romanoffs (Amazon)
October 12
Mad Men mad man Matthew Weiner returns to television with this anthology series about people who believe they are descendants from the cursed Russian royal family. Starring a handful of Mad Men alums (Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, and Jay R. Ferguson) as well as a few big names, the miniseries looks to turn heads and pick up accolades come awards season.
