And To Think That I Saw It On NETFLIX

I have this friend that periodically watches nothing but specific genres of movies he may have missed. Nothing goes unwatched, and everything gets explored in his DIY film fests.

Lately though he has become obsessed with 80s low-budget horror films, which is to say most that I’ve seen probably during that decade. So, naturally I’ve been suggesting some of my favorites to him, but his gift in return is pointing out when they’re are available for Instant Viewing on Netflix. So, every once in a while I’ll check in with the offerings, only to be completely sidetracked by something even better than the one I was looking for. Click add to queue, search for more, repeat as necessary.

Come now on a journey into the less chartered territory of Netflix Instant View. Where one moviegoer’s trash is another geek’s treasure. These are films that are in most cases too financially risky for a traditional DVD release, and thanks to a few studios, have been made readily available for those who can appreciate them…

DUNGEONMASTER
Bull from Night Court plays a wizard named Mestema. What more could you possibly want?

ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK
Elvira stars in her first big screen outing complete with enough sexual entendre for a PG-13. Yes, I saw this one in theatres at least three times. What of it?

TERRORVISION
This was a complete favorite of mine on VHS, so I couldn’t believe how good this remastered streaming version looks. I had to check the back of my set for mutant aliens just to be sure I wasn’t transmitting their signal with it.

THE KEEP
Michael Mann’s first feature film, and one of the most demanded DVDs of all time, can be streamed in all its super-serious, glowing-Nazi detail. At last.

WAXWORK
When will people learn? No good can come from a late night trip to the wax museum. Especially one owned by a creepy midget.

DOLLS
When will people learn? No good can come from a late night trip to a doll maker.
