‘John Tiffany Vol. 1’ Brings on The Panosian (review)

Written by Stephen Desberg
Art by Dan Panosian
Published by Mad Cave Studios

I had never been too invested in learning about this series until I heard that artist Dan Panosian was working on it. I love Dan Panosian and I love anything that he works on.

Luckily, this series is pretty great too and it is a nice surprise that I was not expecting. That’s always a nice thing!

John Tiffany is the world’s best bounty hunter.

Basically, over the years he has learned not to trust anybody except for four people in his life.

We get to meet the various four people who he trusts. The creative team does a great job of making them all feel like completely rounded characters.

Sadly, it seems that one of them has turned against Tiffany.

He now has a bounty on his head! It is really a lot of fun how the creative team introduces the world and then quickly spins everything on its head. Tiffany is on the run while trying to unravel this mystery and things get out of control.

Eventually, John starts following the leads.

There are a few twists and reveals. It all leads to an ending in this first volume that I was not expecting at all. I was so jazzed by the ending of the book but was sad because I wanted more immediately but I knew that I would have to wait. Such is life.

The writing in the book by Stephen Desberg is fairly strong. His strength seems to be in character development and dialogue. He does a great job with both for sure. The artwork by Panosian is great as always.

I may be an easy audience for this but I enjoyed every part of this fantastic book.
