‘Men’s Adventure Quarterly’ Announces Expansion Strategy of it’s Magazine and Brand into Digital Replica and Noir Editions

Robert Deis, and Bill Cunningham, Co-editors and Publishers of the MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY, the critically-acclaimed journal of the men’s adventure magazines announced today that beginning with issue #8, the MAQ will be adding two additional editions to its already colorful magazine. The first, a “Digital Replica” version available on Amazon’s KDP and KDP Select, duplicates the full-color, graphically acclaimed print version for your Kindle or tablet device. The second edition is a “Noir” version that replicates the black & white interiors of the original men’s adventure magazines. Both new editions are designed to supplement the original magazine, and open up the opportunity for new readers to enjoy the thrills and action every quarter.

The MEN’S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY is a 150+ page large format (8”x10”) trade paperback book published every quarter that reprints curated stories and artwork from vintage men’s adventure magazines published in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s in full color. Introductions to each story provide the reader with insight into the writers, artists, models and magazines featured as part of that issue’s theme. For example, MAQ #1 features Western stories, artwork and articles. Other themes have included: Cold War Spies, Vigilante Justice, Jungle Girls, Dirty Missions, Heists, and Gang Girls. The theme of the latest issue, MAQ #8, is Hitmen and Hitwomen. Each issue also contains exclusive articles from select experts about related movies, books, and other media.

“Bill and I have been extremely pleased with the response the MAQ has received from fans of vintage men’s adventure magazines, and action/adventure novels and movies,” said Deis. “The men’s adventure magazines were home to writers such as Mario Puzo, Lawrence Block, Clive Cussler  and more – authors whose works have lived on the bestseller lists for decades. The stories in the men’s adventure magazines were brought to life by commercial illustrators such as Mort Künstler, Bruce Minney, James Bama, Samson Pollen and others whose art has graced magazines, books, movie posters, and advertising around the globe. We are pleased to be able to showcase this caliber of adventure fiction and illustration in every issue.”

“With our new Digital Replica (DR) and Noir Print (Noir) editions of the MAQ, we are able to deliver that same level of entertainment at a lower price point,” said Co-editor and MAQ’s designer, Bill Cunningham. “For example, the original full-color MAQ print edition is $29.95.  The Digital Replica version, being priced at $9.95, maintains the brilliant colors we design into the MAQ, and lets you read it on your preferred digital device. The digital edition will also be available on Amazon’s KDP Select program, so KDP Select members can read the MAQ as part of their membership. This is a huge savings for readers.

The Noir print edition has the exact same content as the full-color editions, but is printed in black-and-white. Noir editions are priced at $19.95. We expect that many MAQ fans will prefer to read and collect the premium full-color print edition, but we want to make the MAQ affordable to everyone who wants to read it. This Noir edition does exactly that.”

After the new 3-edition approach is launched with MAQ #8, the MAQ team will go back and begin offering Noir and DR editions of previous MAQ issues so new readers can catch up at a price point they are comfortable with. Every edition will be available worldwide through Amazon.
