Issue one of this series begins with a simple premise, sometime in the future, due to the negligence of humankind, the Earth has become a planet specifically inhospitable to humans.
However, society has not given up hope.
The masses of humanity have abandoned the world they ruined and now exist in orbital cities that revolve around the Earth.
All across the shattered plate, crews of sanitation workers toil away, cleaning up artificial mountains of toxic waste, preparing the way for humanity to make the Earth their own again.
Writer/artist Stefano Cardoselli introduces readers to Rodriguez and Boy as they descend deep inside an ancient nuclear facility, searching for a missing crew member. Unfortunately, the pair find evidence that the crew before them was slain by a savage unknown predator.
Meanwhile, Travis is on the surface, trying to survive the wrath of a swarm of locusts.
Don’t Spit in the Wind is a fun and short read. Cardoselli’s writing is fast-paced, engaging, and witty, and his art is suitable cherry and funky, in a way that reminds me of a comic book drawn and illustrated by a kid in junior high school.
Issue one was highly engaging, and I felt like the 23 pages of the story were over as soon as it started, and I was eagerly clamoring for issue two.
