How Has ‘GTA Online’ Built a Meta-verse Before Anyone Else

GTA Online was released in 2013 and few would have thought that it would overcome the popularity of the actual GTA base game.

The game developer, Rockstar, keeps launching updates to the online version of the game, and the expansion packs that keep on being released make the game one of the favorites among video game fans.

What’s Grand Theft Auto about?

A game about criminals that end up building connections and friendships between them. GTA made his name for bringing to the spotlight unconventional characters, the sort of antihero ones, as the leading players of their games.

Accomplishing missions such as mastermind heists and mafia jobs while building an empire from scratch. That’s what GTA is all about. A video game where people can fantasize about bypassing the law and skipping every norm in our society.

What the online version has brought to the mix is a layer of reality that can be categorized as funny or perhaps even frightening… in a good sense.

You only have to tune up to one of the thousands of Twitch streams online and see how people react when playing GTA Online. Some take the role of justice enforcement while others play as criminals to collect big sums of money.

Technological developments have allowed players to communicate between them in the game, and the curious thing about this is that most of them take this role-playing act very seriously.

The best things you can do in the game

GTA Online has therefore become a sort of meta-verse where players get in the skin of a virtual character of the city of Los Santos and are confronted with almost the same decisions as they face in real life. They need a job to win money, they need the money to buy properties and cars, or other consumables such as clothing or shoes.

The variety of activities you can get yourself into is perhaps the main reason for the success of the game.

Among the players’ favorites, there’s the option of attending the Diamond Casino & Resort.

Rockstar has tried to emulate in their game the same gameplay that you can find on an online casino platform in real life. The likes of Casumo offer players a vast array of casino games like slots, blackjack, poker, and roulette just to name a few. Such online casinos also give players bonuses and promotions to win real money, and this is one of the first reasons for the huge popularity of these platforms.

The Diamond Casino & Resort at GTA has perfectly translated the number of games available but has still to offer a way of cashing out the money won in the game. For the moment, money in GTA Online remains a virtual currency only to be used in the game.

But what you can buy in GTA Online are luxury and sports cars that you can later use in missions, to escape the police, or in street races that emulate The Fast and The Furious franchise style and that will also return you with money prizes. You can even search for online dealers on your virtual smartphone.

And if cars are not your thing, you can try to acquire your flight school diploma at Los Santos International Airport and start a career as a pilot. Piloting aircraft is one of the most entertaining activities in the game, and it’s the best way to move around a city so big, that it’s one of the biggest videogame scenarios in history.

GTA Online also offers you the chance to invest your money in a business. You can acquire fully equipped buildings such as nightclubs or offices that will give you immediate money-making activities for you to kickstart.

But doing business, stealing, or catching criminals are not the only activities in the game.

Just like in real life, GTA Online offers players the chance to relax and enjoy minigames such as golf or tennis that they can play against other fellow virtual citizens of Los Santos.

Don’t expect the best gameplays but rather an excuse to kill some time off while you recover for your next job or mission.

Overall, a game with so many things to do and such a different approach to accomplish every task available that it’s a completely different experience for every player.

It’s impossible to explain in a single article the complete intricacies of GTA Online, but a least we hope that this will make you want to try the game and fall in love like so many millions of gamers have.
