‘Creeping’ OGN (review)

Folks often run out looking for something new to fulfill their needs when the consistent, reliable things always work. Do you have an old pair of shoes that fit just right? A couple of cozy pants that hang and billow in all the right places? Or an excellent lifelong chum who is always there for you in a pinch?

Creeping is all of the things wrapped in a gorgeous package.

Richardson has created a world where “creeping” is a dangerous online trend that challenges partakers to spend the night in a frightening location. One group of college-bound kids is determined to go viral by finding the “most” terrifying place in the world.

Albeit there is nothing original to Richardson’s plot.

Please do not take that statement as an insult.

A well-written story, even if told for the 100th time, is still a piece of solid art. Of course, readers know from the jacket summary that our band of adventurers will bite off more than they can chew.

However, despite the familiarity of the players and the plot, Richardson, Keller, and Wheatley have created a classic horror story that was both familiar and thrilling.

Wheatley’s art is electric and haunting with a cinematic flair. While reading this book, I imagined myself watching the creeping with my wife on date night. Wheatley’s art made me feel as if Creeping was a big-budget horror film reformatted for the printed page.

Creeping was a fun and breezy read that I highly recommend. Get cozy under the covers with your copy of Creeping on a cold, stormy night and settle in.
