‘Fallout 4: New Vegas’ – Bringing the Mojave To The Commonwealth

Fallout: New Vegas came into our lives in 2010 as an action-packed, post-apocalyptic game that, although it isn’t a spinoff, featured the same style as Fallout 3. Fallout 3 is long-gone, and instead, we have Fallout 4 – a massively successful and popular game that’s complete with mods and new features that keep its popularity going until this day. One of the most recent mods is Project Mojave – bringing Fallout New Vegas back to the Fallout 4 engine – and we’re all for it.

Fallout: New Vegas was somewhat of a cult classic, so many veteran players have been more than happy to welcome it back. Let’s explore how it brings the Mojave back to the Commonwealth.

Where Is It?

The Commonwealth is the general location for Fallout 4. What was once the East Coast of America is now the Commonwealth wastelands that incorporate Boston and the wider area of Massachusetts. You’ll notice that all of the locations within Fallout 4 are known to be part of the Commonwealth. Project Mojave is a mod that’s proving to be one of the most popular yet and is the result of months of hard work by the users HcG x Grill, TheFriedTurkey, MrColonelMustard, and C411um13.

They’ve managed to give players access to nearly a quarter of the massive Mojave wastelands, which is located south of the Breakheart Banks in the Commonwealth. Once you get to the quest trigger to examine a dead institute scientist, you’re there. They’ve also managed to include updated features from Fallout 4, like creating settlements.

What Does It Feature?

Why was Fallout: New Vegas so popular? Players had the chance to try out skill based gambling games in the casinos, build settlements and roam around Vegas in post-apocalyptic times. However, there’s a twist; the new mod displays the New Vegas strip in stunning detail that just wasn’t available in 2010, given the limitations of the technology of the time. There’s been a total remake of the strip, and you’ll find multiple new player homes and other features to explore. Plus, it’s not that hard to find on the map and expands on features seen in the original Fallout: New Vegas.

On the strip, you’ll find three full-functioning casino games to play – players have the option to go onto the New Vegas strip and play from there, or they can play on machines built at the workshops. According to the developers, the New Vegas mod already has over 800 new and remade assets, including 20 weapons and over 50 wearable items. If you want to relive your Fallout: New Vegas days, the new, New Vegas mod is well worth looking at if you’re missing the Las Vegas flare in the game.

The guys who created it have done a fantastic job at replicating and improving the gameplay, bringing the Mojave to the Commonwealth effortlessly. Although the Commonwealth was already good on its own, adding the Mojave experience has elevated the gameplay for those who wish to experience it. Las Vegas is always an iconic feature in any game – just look at the likes of Grand Theft Auto and how much people like the Vegas strip on that game.

Is It Exactly What Fallout: 4 Was Missing?

In many respects, yes. Fallout 4 is an incredible game with expansion packs and mods that only add to the game’s intensity – and the New Vegas mod is no exception. Plus, it’s a mod still very much in development, so it’ll be exciting to see how much of the Mojave wastelands will appear in Fallout 4. But don’t get too excited. There are talks and rumors of Fallout 5, which will undoubtedly reign supreme over Fallout 4, considering it’s a much-anticipated game.

Although there hasn’t been a confirmed release date yet, 2022 could be the year Fallout 5 hits the shelves. Fallout, in general, has always been a success. The gameplay differs so much from other games – it’s so immersive that you almost feel like you’re part of the game, especially when it comes to making settlements. The fact it’s so customizable is something we hope to see in Fallout 5, and we also hope that the good name of Fallout doesn’t get destroyed by bringing out a 5th in the series.

The New Vegas mod definitely does bring the Mojave to the Commonwealth – and brings challenges, fun, and the chance to build a settlement along with it. It’s well worth exploring if you were already a fan of the Mojave and feel like the Commonwealth lacks what the Mojave brings.
