‘Stillwater By Zdarsky & Pérez #9’ (review)

Written by Chip Zdarsky
Art by Ramon Perez, Mike Spicer
Published by Image Comics

This has been a really great series that goes to some really creative places.

The creators just take the concept that they came up with and they just run with it. I am loving where they have been going with this and it only seems to get better and better.

This issue focuses on the character of Ted. We get to see what Ted actually gets up to in the town of Stillwater. We get to see a bit of his daily life. We also get to see how his story plays into the bigger story the creative team is telling.

The comic really lets the characters and their personalities breathe. Ted loves to welcome visitors to the town of Stillwater. He loves to be the one to deal with them. He loves to show them around. And he loves to get them away for the time.

This directly impacts Faith, who has to come up against Ted. This struggle takes up a big part of the issue. It is the crux of the story and it plays out well. I love the direction this went in and it has a really nice and strong ending.

The story by Chip Zdarsky is very strong. I love everything about it and it is very well done. Ramon K. Perez is one of my favorite artists and he does a great job here as well. Overall, it’s another strong issue in a compelling series.

RATING: A
