How do you follow up an issue with a great, big fight in it? By keeping that fight going, of course!
Commanders in Crisis #10 continues with Earth-Z on the brink of the multiverse ending, nations tearing themselves apart and chaos in the streets.
And the Crisis Command is busy fighting Executrix’s clones as Frontier hunts down their ringleader.
Things look dire: Prizefighter lies in a lifeless heap, and Sawbones and Seer are getting the tar beat out of them. But there’s always another way, always life struggling to assert itself, even amid those who wish for nothing but death.
Crisis Command is counting on life’s impulse to survive and keep going.
“Whatever action we take has to be about going forward, not back. If being heroes means defending the status quo, we need to be something more useful.”
As the chaos unfolds outside the Crisis Command headquarters, TV reporter Chris Cordero (the Lois Lane to Prizefighter’s Superman) gives an impassioned report and plea for the world to come together. He knows that Prizefighter’s power comes from attention, and so he hopes that if he can focus enough attention, the hero can be restored.
Meanwhile, the Extinction Society’s plans are moving into the next phase. Members are spraying aerosolized vulture masks on their faces – random citizens, police officers, even senators in the Oval Office.
Frontier finds Executrix’s hidden base, and things aren’t looking good for the heroes yet. Executrix is doing the supervillain crowing with hubris part while she’s still ahead on the scoreboard.
But if we’re going to do a superhero comic book right, eventually it’s gotta come down to a fistfight.
