Three Games to Tide You Over Until ‘Tiger King 2’

Netflix hinted last August at the release of a Tiger King season 2. Whether you’re in the camp that watched one episode a week in order to help you get through lockdown or those who blitzed through all of them in a single weekend, you’re going to be itching to see the next one. Apparently, there were some people who just didn’t watch it, but sources aren’t necessarily reliable… Love him or hate him, Joe Exotic was a captivating character, so if you’re struggling to see the light at the end of the Tiger King tunnel, these games might help you make it there.

Planet Zoo

If you’re a strategy gamer who likes a frightening level of realism and has plenty of time on your hands then Planet Zoo could be a good choice for you. The premise of the game is to create the zoo of your dreams, either in a sandbox mode, a challenge mode with a realistic economy, or through a series of progressively more challenging scenarios.

Although Planet Zoo isn’t a creation of Blue Fang Games, it is seen by many as the spiritual successor to the Zoo Tycoon series. Many of us will have fond memories of summer holidays wasted creating mega-zoos, or just feeding guests to dinosaurs. Whatever your reason for loving the Zoo Tycoon series, you probably won’t be disappointed by this new(ish) release from Frontier Developments.

The game encourages a more Carole Baskin approach to animal husbandry, incentivizing those who look after their animals well. It is clear that Frontier Developments have decided to continue the approach that Blue Fang had regarding conservation. Educating guests has a far greater importance in the game than before, with genuinely informative conservation boards about topics as wide-ranging as the bee population decline and the exotic pet trade.

The latter might even give you some good Tiger King conversation topics! Whilst this game is the steepest price-wise on the list, at around $50, it really is a world apart from the Zoo Tycoon series. If you can’t stretch to that cost there are regular sales on Steam which have seen it drop down as low as $25 making it an absolute steal.

50 Lions

For those who like their games quick and easy, 50 Lions is a good shout. This online slots game takes you on an adventure through the African safari, with symbols including lions (of course), zebras, and giraffes. It works just as a classic slot would. Five reels with four rows of the aforementioned symbols will decide your fate. Amongst them, there is the possibility for free spins, bonus games, and scattered rewards. The orange, yellow and black color scheme is reminiscent of that awfully loud tiger print shirt that Joe Exotic used to love so much, or perhaps sunset on the Serengeti, depending on how you look at it.

If you want to play then you can play in person at any of the Aristocrat casinos, or if you’d rather play from the comfort of your living room then you can find the slot online at Vegas Slots Online. Whilst you’re logged in to the website you’ll be able to find a selection of other slot games that are free, or paid as you choose. Siberian storm, featuring a majestic white tiger is another game that the Tiger King would certainly approve of.

A Whole Host of Tiger King Games

What with the enormous popularity of the Tiger King series, it wasn’t going to take long before small games developers caught on and produced a few games, very, very quickly. Perhaps the most well thought out of these games is Tiger King – Joe Exotic Zoo. This game is available on mobile and lands firmly on Joe Exotic’s side of the disagreement. You are encouraged to wipe out Carole Baskin, whilst saving successively more difficult animals along the way. You’ll enjoy hilarious graphics, as well as a suspiciously familiar soundtrack.

A final word of congratulations to the official Tiger King drinking game. If you’re hoping to rewatch the first series before diving into the second, then take a while to check out the rules of this game first. Drinking when you see a set of pierced nipples, or somebody shooting a blow-up doll named Carole Baskin is not just encouraged, it is in the rules.
