‘Future State: Superman/Wonder Woman #1’ (review)

Written by Dan Watters

Published by DC Comics

The Future State stories have had some interesting things happening with the characters. So far we have been treated to individual characters and their particular stories.

Now, we get to see two characters come together and team up.

I have to say that it is very cool to see.

The story basically starts out by telling us that there are two arrogant gods who are at odds with each other.

Their battle starts to cause destruction around the world. This is the impetus to have Superman meet up with Wonder Woman to form a plan to stop these gods.

We first see Superman and Wonder Woman in their respective settings.

We see them do some heroic acts. After these establishing scenes, the plot goes into effect. Things do go rather fast here, but it is all very focused. It is very basic and simple and easy to follow.

Superman and Wonder Woman do their best to bring order to the world. But things do get a bit out of hand. The last page in particular exemplifies that best and makes for an intriguing hook for the next issue. I was interested to find out how this story is going to resolve itself.
I said before that this comic is very basic and you definitely feel it reading this. It is not a bad thing, but I do wish that the creators had more space to give it more depth. There was a lot more to be explored with this and I feel like we may only be scratching the surface.

RATING: B
