The storyline “Flash: Year One” races along here with yet another exciting chapter! This has been great so far. Williamson and Porter make for one hell of a creative team. This storyline just seems to get better and better each and every issue. I’m so happy with where they are taking us.
This issue opens with the future Flash chained to the Cosmic Treadmill. He is being chained by the villain known as the Turtle.
The Turtle is no longer this meek villain but rather now a real threat! Porter makes that apparent with his excellent visuals and his crazy costume design. It’s an exciting start to the issue.
Barry and Iris are watching this happen.
Barry knows he can’t let his future self die. So he goes and suits up and confronts the Turtle. He is ready to fight. The Turtle says that he is late.
Barry says “better late than never.” With that, a big fight ensues!
The Turtle wants Barry’s speed. Barry just wants to free his future self. He goes for it and does it! The future Barry though isn’t being too positive however. He tells the younger Barry that this is the day that they are going to fail.
Things aren’t looking too good for the both of them.
They regroup. Barry gets ready to fight. That’s when he first puts on the classic red suit. It’s a glorious moment in the comic book. By the end of the issue, I was cheering. And that’s exactly when the creative team leaves us on a hell of a cliffhanger.
This book is only getting better. I’m loving every part of it. This is the way I like the Flash. Williamson has consistently written some amazing stories here and this issue continues that trend. This storyline is becoming a classic quick.
