Jennifer Connelly is in final negotiations to join the cast of Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. “In Aronofsky’s take on the Biblical tale, Noah is a man who loves Earth and all of its animal inhabitants, but has become disillusioned with the way humans have treated their planet. Connelly will play Noah’s wife.”
Cam Gigandet will play, “a psychic psychologist who delves into the minds of patients and sees their memories in order to help them unleash past demons” in Catherine Hardwicke‘s thriller Plush opposite Emily Browning, who’s character shares his gift.
Donal Logue has been cast as Merv Ferguson, the right-hand man to CBGB owner Hilly Kristal (Alan Rickman) in CBGB, about the famed New York music club.
Tony-nominated actress Cristin Milioti is in talks to play Leonardo DiCaprio‘s first wife in Martin Scorsese‘s The Wolf of Wall Street. The film is based on “Jordan Belfort‘s memoirs, which chronicle his rise and fall on Wall Street, along with his hard-partying lifestyle and tumultuous personal life.” Jonah Hill, Jean Dujardin and Kyle Chandler have already been cast in the film which begins filming later this summer.
Oscar winner Hans Zimmer will score Zack Snyder‘s Superman film, Man of Steel. This is his first collaboration with the filmmaker (who usually collaborates with Tyler Bates), but Zimmer is a frequent collaborator of producer Christopher Nolan, including the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises.
Ed Helms has joined the cast of David Wain‘s twisted romantic comedy, They Came Together opposite Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler. Helms will play Poehler’s love interest and accountant. Helms will also make a cameo appearance in We’re The Millers opposite Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis. Helms will then return as Andy Bernard on the new season of NBC’s The Office in September.
Alex Pettyfer has joined the ever-growing all-star ensemble for Lee Daniels‘ The Butler. “Forest Whitaker, David Oyelowo, Alan Rickman, Jane Fonda, Oprah Winfrey, Minka Kelly, Cuba Gooding Jr, Terrance Howard, and Lenny Kravitz. And talks are underway with Vanessa Redgrave to join the pic as well”
George Clooney and Grant Heslov will produce the feature film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning play August: Osage County for The Weinstein Company and director John Wells. August: Osage County, “tells the dark, hilarious and deeply touching story of the strong-willed women of the Weston family, whose lives have diverged until a family crisis brings them back to the Midwest house they grew up in, and to the dysfunctional woman who raised them.” Meryl Streep will play pill-popping matriarch Violet Weston, and Julia Roberts will play her “complicated adult daughter Barbara.”
Jonah Hill, who was originally rumored for a part in Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained, is in fact joining the in-production film. Apparently he won’t be playing Scotty Harmony (a character that Sascha Baron Cohen was slated to portray), but an entirely new role. Django Unchained opens December 25th.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has joined the cast of George Miller‘s upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy, Nicholas Hoult and Charlize Theron. Huntington-Whiteley will portray one of “five wives” (two of the other wives are Zoe Kravitz and Riley Keough), who are being transported from one location to another. Miller previously directed the original Mad Max in 1979 and the two sequels, The Road Warrior in 1981 and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome in 1985.
Edward James Olmos has joined the cast to Machete Kills, which is “on a new mission, this time at the request of the president of the United States, Machete will have the challenge of defeating a dangerous leader of a cartel, which threatens the government with a nuclear attack.” Also in the cast are Danny Trejo as Machete, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Zoe Saldana, Demián Bichir, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard and Mel Gibson.
Following the production challenges of World War Z and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the previously announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is on hiatus while the screenplay and budget are getting retooled,
