Watch Michelle Rodriguez vs. Killer Robots in Short Film, ‘2031’

In this action-packed science fiction short featuring Michelle Rodriguez and Lukas Haas, chaos becomes the new world order when robots designed to serve mankind form an army to destroy it.  One man discovers the source of the uprising and enlists the help of an ex solider to stop it.  It’s Man vs Machine in this “proof of concept” short, written and directed by Catero Colbert (who is familiar to readers for his acting work on Showtime’s Roadies and as the voice of Killer Bee in the various Naruto anime series).

Shot on a tight budget of $3,000, 2031 is the kind of film that we need more of, once again capturing the spirit and energy of independent cinema.  The short has enormous potential (it reminded me a bit of District 9 in it’s execution) and let’s hope Colbert gets the opportunity to turn this short into the feature film it deserves to be.
