‘The Flash Annual #3’ (review)

Written by Joshua Williamson
Art by Brandon Peterson,
Stephen Segovia, Carlo Pagulayan
Published by DC Comics

Well, this is the last Flash Annual that Joshua Williamson will be writing for the foreseeable future.

Luckily, it is a fantastic annual that really shows off his passion for the character. He teams up with artists Brandon Peterson, Stephen Segovia, and Carlo Pagulayan to create one hell of a book!

The book opens with a beaten and captured Captain Boomerang sitting and telling a story. This is the framework for this tale. We then flashback to see Boomerang with the Suicide Squad. The Flash catches up to them and he isn’t too keen on what he is seeing.

So guess what happens at this point?

You guessed it. A fight!

But The Flash and the Squad resolve their differences pretty quickly. They figure out that they share a similar goal.  So what is left to do but team up! They soon find themselves in over their heads!

The Flash and the Suicide Squad come up against Deathstroke, The Terminator!

A big brawl erupts! Then, it is up to Captain Boomerang to save the day. Boomerang and Deathstroke face off in a very cool moment. I won’t say how it ends, except that it is really well handled.

This is a standalone annual that is handled very well. The story is great and all of the artists have done a superb job here. Williamson plays it smart here keeping the story self contained and it it just the right amount of fun.

RATING: A
