‘Sweet Tooth: The Return #4’ (review)

Written and Illustrated by Jeff Lemire
Published by DC Comics

Sweet Tooth was one of my favorite series when it was coming out regularly.

I am enjoying this follow up very much. I am not sure where we are headed at times when I read this but that is a good thing.

The story is very intricately laid out and I am liking it very much.

This issue answers a lot of questions and pretty much sets up the end of this series.

I don’t want to spoil anything about this issue as it is pretty significant, but all of the questions that this series has brought up are answered here.

The biggest question of the series is the Boy himself.

We get to see what his mysterious birth is all about.

Lemire makes it all very natural and it completely makes sense. He shows us Father’s involvement and what the purpose of it all was.

We also get to see that the final confrontation between man and the hybrid beasts is coming. Both sides prepare themselves for this coming battle. The stakes have never been higher and everything is about to get crazy.

Jeff Lemire is as good as a writer as he is an artist.

He also has a deep affection for this universe. You can see the passion on each and every page. This series has only gotten better and I can’t wait to see how Lemire ends it all.

RATING: A
