‘Snow Angels #2’ (review)

Written by Jeff Lemire

The first issue of this series was quite interesting. It set up an entirely new world that I have never seen before. It is well thought out and well designed. This issue is fantastic too, and further delves into this unique world the creative team has laid out for us.

We pick up right where we left off last issue.

Milliken and her family are in the Trench, trying to survive. There is an explosion and Milliken and her family stop in their tracks.

That is when we get a good glimpse of the horrific and downright scary villain of the series.

The Snowman is that villain and we get to see him surveying the scene. His character design by Jock is absolutely terrifying. Milliken and her family observe him in horror.

Then, they are able to get on their path once more.

Milliken’s father takes her and her sister Mae further down the Trench.

As the issue ends, they find themselves in one truly dark place. They might not make it out of this one, and so we are left on a cliffhanger. It is quite thrilling.

Jeff Lemire writes an intense script here full of some great characters and characterizations. The art matches the story well, and I really love Jock’s work here.

I am loving this series and I cannot wait for the next issue.

RATING: A
