‘Nightwing #71’ (review)

Written by Dan Jurgens
Art by Ronan Cliquet
Published by DC Comics

We are still stuck on the Ric personality for this title.

That is the only thing that is really dragging this book down a bit. Other than that, this is a really fantastic story.

Writer Dan Jurgens and artist Ronan Cliquet are doing one heck of a job on this title and they are giving us some truly excellent moments to remember.

This is a chapter of the Joker War storyline going on. The opening scene has Ric running out the door on Bea. He has to go fight crime and he is leaving her alone. She looks over at the stairs. Guess who is there?

That s right! It is the Joker himself! Ric has to go face a monster in the street! He does so in a nicely illustrated scene by Ronan Cliquet. He really has become an excellent artist and really does a hell of a job on this issue.

Ric then heads back to Bea.

Nightwing then comes face to face with the Joker here in a brutal scene. Their confrontation is the heart of the issue and I have to say that it is a doozy. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the issue.

The conversation and the confrontation between Ric and the Joker is nicely scripted by Jurgens. This is an exhilarating and exhausting issue and I really liked it.

The Joker War crossover is starting to come together nicely and this issue is a big part of that!

RATING: A-
