LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT returns with Vincent D’Onofrio on board

Many times that a show is cancelled or goes on permanent hiatus, the series abruptly ends and that’s it. Where’s the closure? Where’s that denoument that never comes?

Law & Order: Criminal Intent fans might get their chance. The series is coming back to USA for a 10th — and possibly final — season. And former star Vincent D’Onofrio, who left the show after season 8, is returning as Detective Robert Goren.
Eight new episodes will air in 2011, and the air date has yet to be announced. Even so, it looks like Criminal Intent will get the farewell that NBC never gave to the original Law & Order after a 20-season run.
According to Deadline, discussions are under way with Kathryn Erbe and other Criminal Intent alums, but Jeff Goldblum is staying out. Could we see some Chris Noth return as longtime L&O Detective Mike Logan?
Deadline also reports that USA has a pilot commitment from show creator Dick Wolf for a new project.
