JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT Signs on For SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR
No Longer In Talks For Marvel’s “Guardians of The Galaxy”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sin City, Frank Miller, Robert Rodriguez

We still don’t know if Joseph Gordon-Levitt is donning the Batsuit anytime soon, but the in-demand actor certainly has his choice of projects.  Deadline has revealed that Gordon-Levitt will take on the role of “Johnny” in the upcoming sequel to Sin City, A Dame To Kill For.  According to the article, the part was originally offered to Johnny Depp, but it’s Gordon-Levitt who will star for directors Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez.

Like the first film, Sin City 2 will adapt several overlapping stories by comic creator Miller and will reunite several members of the cast from the first film including Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Michael Madsen and Jaime King.  Joining the cast will be Jamie Chung replacing Devon Aoki as Miho, Rodriguez regular Alexa Vega and Dennis Haysbert filling in as Manute for the late Michael Clarke Duncan.  Josh Brolin has also been mentioned to be joining the cast.  No word as of yet who will replace Shelley, the part portrayed by the late Brittany Murphy or the film’s femme fatale, Ava Lord.

In the series, Johnny, “is a middle aged man who fell in love with Amy, a young 20-years old girl who convinced him to try to kill her father. She told him that he would cut her out of his will, and left him a gun.”  No word yet if Gordon-Levitt will be playing the character as middle-aged under prosthetic make-up or not.

This announcement does confirm that Gordon-Levitt is out of the running for Marvel Studio’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy to be directed by James Gunn.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is currently in production and will hit theaters on October 4th, 2013.
