Laila seems to be your typical slacker and casual drug user who hangs around with her boyfriend, Aaron, who seems to be a very low level street criminal.

The pair lazily goes about their day of doing nothing in particular while two separate groups of men are looking for them.

Once the stark reality of the criminal underworld and clashing cultures catches up with them the couple are on the run and seem to be making their situation worse with every decision.

Catch Me Daddy is a film that looks great, but as a first time feature filmmaker, I think Daniel Wolf let the film play out at too slow of a pace.

What should be an engaging narrative with mesmerizing long takes and photography becomes a film so slowly paced that you start to forget why things are happening.

Although I may be wrong, if seen properly in a theater Catch Me Daddy may work perfectly, but I watched it as a digital screener in my living room and the simplest of distractions such as a daylight filled room and street noise could easily break ones concentration on this film.

Now, not to be too negative, I want to point out that Catch Me Daddy does plenty right.

The movie is photographed beautifully for a film set in an urban industrial area and the overall look of the film sets a very grim tone. Even though the pacing drags out a relatively short plot the actors are all wonderful and natural in their roles with the lead actress Sameena Jabeen Ahmed standing out as someone to keep an eye on in future roles.

If you like bleak dramas or gritty crime dramas then I believe that you would enjoy Catch Me Daddy, I just recommend that you try to see it in a theater if you can.

Catch Me Daddy opens in select theaters today and VOD on September 1st
