The Umbrella Academy franchise is experiencing a lot of notice these days with the Netflix show out.
So now is the perfect opportunity for more Umbrella Academy comics.
This is a pretty good start to the new series as well, and really pushes the whole crazy concept into some fresh new territory.
This new comic starts off with showing us our protagonist, the 18 year old boy named Klaus Hargreeves.
He is full of swagger and has a youthful attitude. He is also on drugs and uses his powers and skills for bad purposes.
He is about to be in for a bit of a rude awakening, however.
Klaus is seen as a liability by his father, Sir Reginald Hargreeves. His father takes away his allowance and then kicks him out of the Academy. He also excommunicates Klaus as well. Things aren’t looking so good for our boy Klaus.
That is when things get worse.
We do get to see a few of the other Academy members before Klaus goes on his way. Klaus levitates on his suitcase and heads on over to the City. He finds that he has to fend for himself for the first time. He then gets into some trouble with a vampire overload.
That is when things really go to hell for him.
The story is a lot of fun. It feels perfect for the Umbrella Academy universe and it really is well paced. The art really captures this world perfectly as well.
This is a good first issue to what looks to be one hell of a series.
