Hi, what are you looking for?

WATCH THIS! First Look At 2011-12 Fox and NBC Shows

After the jump you’ll find extended trailers for much of the new series debuting next season on both NBC and Fox along with my initial impressions based only on the footage.

There’s several really interesting shows and several that redefine crap.

What do you like/loathe?

ALCATRAZ

This one looks like a winner.  Excellent cast.  Intriguing premise.  I just hope the mythology has been figured out from the beginning.

THE PLAYBOY CLUB

NBC’s answer to Mad Men.  Visually pretty neat, but does anyone want to see a television series about Playboy on network television without nudity?  Um, I don’t.

UP ALL NIGHT

Funny cast, but both Arnett and Rudolph are already mugging for the camera and this is in the trailer.  Doesn’t do it for me.

FREE AGENTS

My prediction for the next cult comedy series.

PRIME SUSPECT

Based on the cult British series, it’s really up to the writing staff to deliver a solid procedural.  It looks solid, but Maria Bello is no Helen Mirren.  Unfortunately, it looks pretty standard.

WHITNEY

Whitney Cummings is pretty funny.  Especially when she isn’t dumped into a traditional sitcom with a canned laugh track.  She belongs on FX.  This one looks awful.

GRIMM

As long as the plot expands beyond Big Bad Wolves as the stock villain, this could be ridiculous fun.

SMASH

All About Eve meets Glee.  Not for me.

AWAKE

Pretty impressive.  I’m there.

ARE YOU THERE VODKA? IT’S ME CHELSEA

Slutty drunk the series.  Laura Prepon deserves better.

TERRA NOVA

It’s Jurassic Park in the future.  What’s not to like?

NEW GIRL

Shockingly bad.  I like Zooey, but I would have liked it better if they actually wrote something rather than let her “be Zooey.”

THE FINDER

Looks pretty solid.  I like both Stolts (who has reminded me of Timothy Olyphant since I saw him on October Road) and Duncan.  I’ll check it out.

I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER

Terrible.

NAPOLEON DYNAMITE

This would have been great in 2004.  2011?  Not so much.

ALLEN GREGORY

So bad it makes me long for American Dad.
