Two really great comic book creators who don’t get talked about enough are writer Doug Wagner and artist Daniel Hillyard. They are both solid creators who turn out consistently great work.
This might all change with this book right here. It is well done and is a showcase for the pair’s talents.
There is a torture scene that begins this book. We get to see body parts come off and everything is pretty bloody.
We also get to see a vinyl record being played to punctuate the scene.
Who is the antagonist and why is this happening?
We get some answers pretty quickly.
We get to meet Walter, who is friends with an FBI Agent.
The FBI Agent is in charge of apprehending Walter. But this FBI Agent is then kidnapped. It is a fast paced beginning for a series for sure.
The people who kidnap this FBI agent are part of a death cult.
They are a death cult of all women. They are also sunflower farmers. Walter finds himself going after this agent and to figure out how to save him. This is the crazy premise for this book and it is well handled.
Doug Wagner writes a great and colorful script that never lets up. It is fun and entertaining and nuts. The artwork by Daniel Hillyard is great and detailed.
I loved every part of this and want more for sure.
This is how you launch a new series.
