Writer Grant Morrison and artist Liam Sharp have done some downright amazing work on The Green Lantern.
They have taken us places that I never would have expected. It is all coming to a close and this issue is directing us to that ending. I am sad to see this title go as I have been enjoying this very much.
The book starts off on the Planet Athmoora.
It is a swords and sorcery world.
We get an ominous beginning for the book featuring a bunch of aliens talking about a big plot point.
It sets up Morrison’s ending well and gives us an idea of where we might be going.
The story is typically weird as usual for Morrison but it is still so full of ideas. The Young Guardians have a plan to restructure the Green Lantern Corps. That plan starts moving along.
We get to see Hal Jordan’s reaction to all. His decision?
Well, he takes a vacation.
The rest of the issue has to deal with swords and sorcery and craziness. Hal has to deal with a slew of foes determined to ruin his vacation and to take him down. But there is something bigger at play going on.
Something that threatens to change everything forever.
This is some great stuff. Morrison is supposedly ending his conic writing career with this series. If so, he will be going out on a high note. The art is Liam Sharp’s best work. He has never been better.
I am loving where we are going and can’t wait to see how this all concludes.
