Marvel: The Incredible Hulk

Meet the monster behind the man in Hulk, the explosive third volume in Folio’s ‘Marvel Heroes’ series, showcasing some of the most iconic characters in comic book history. Roy Thomas introduces landmark stories by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Al Ewing.

Landing with the force of an experimental gamma bomb, Hulk will blast you off your feet. Following Captain America and Spider-Man, this third volume in Folio’s exclusive Marvel Heroes series celebrates the 60th anniversary of the green-skinned goliath. Inside, you’ll find a complete replica of the character’s debut comic book, 1962’s The Incredible Hulk #1, along with 12 more landmark tales from the Hulk’s 60 year rampage. Selected by multi-award-winning former Marvel editor-in-chief Roy Thomas and scanned directly from original comic books, these tales cover an eye-opening variety of themes. You’ll witness Hulk’s (literally) earth-shattering battles with the Sub-Mariner and debut Super Villain the Wendigo, as well as visionary confrontations with Hulk’s evermore diverse array of alter egos. Including work by Hulk co-creators Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, alongside several contemporary Marvel masters, this heavyweight hardback comes bursting out of a glorious green slipcase designed by British Marvel artist Jim Cheung. His slipcase comes with the Hulk’s fist icon pounded onto the cover, while the book’s binding and endpapers feature Cheung’s staggering original art.

Marvel The Golden Age (1939-1949)

In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Marvel Comics #1, The Folio Society has joined legendary Marvel editor Roy Thomas to form a super-powered team-up of their own. Marvel: The Golden Age 1939–1949 presents five specially curated comic books, including a meticulous facsimile of the comic that started it all back in 1939. Thomas’s selection includes Sub-Mariner #1, Human Torch #5, Captain America Comics #10, and All Winners Comics #19, and showcases the founding characters, debut appearances, famous battles and signature talent that helped define the Golden Age of American Super Hero comics.

To recapture and preserve the spirit of the Golden Age, The Folio Society has scanned these comics from original newsprint titles, valuable rarities sourced from either the Marvel vaults or a discerning collector. While Folio has ensured that the authentic facsimile of Marvel Comics #1 maintains its original dimensions, the four titles collected in hardback have all been enlarged to a treasury format to best appreciate each detail. Every minute aspect of all five books has been preserved, from crinkles and creases in the grainy newsprint to the vintage adverts and short fiction. Even glitches, including original spelling errors and colouring overlaps, have been preserved

Marvel The Silver Age (1960-1970)

Marvel: The Silver Age 1960–1970 marks the second chapter in The Folio Society’s collaboration with Marvel Comics. Over 30 revolutionary Super Heroes await you, including Spider-Man, the Avengers and Doctor Strange. Curated by Marvel legend Roy Thomas, this collector’s edition comes complete with a scale reproduction of the groundbreaking The Fantastic Four #1.

Over thirty iconic characters! Fifteen groundbreaking tales! One explosive edition! Marvel: The Silver Age 1960–1970 is The Folio Society’s second collaboration with Marvel Comics. This lavish hardback edition collects the defining stories of over thirty revolutionary characters, including Iron Man, the Hulk and the X-Men. Curated by Roy Thomas, Marvel: The Bronze Age 1970–1980 includes landmark tales of Spider-Man, Iron Man and The Eternals, complete with a 64-page facsimile of Giant-Size X-Men #1.

The final chapter in a unique retrospective, Marvel: The Bronze Age 1970–1980 showcases fifteen of the most startling Super Hero stories ever told. Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers and Black Panther undergo their darkest adventures yet, alongside tales of a diverse new generation including Luke Cage, The Eternals and Howard the Duck. Curated and introduced by Stan Lee successor Roy Thomas, with a preface by iconic X-Men writer Chris Claremont, this stunning compendium features designs and art by typographer Ian Jepson and Marvel artist Julian Totino Tedesco.
