‘The Flash #79’ (review)

Written by Joshua Williamson
Art by Rafa Sandoval
Published by DC Comics

This book has been one of the most solid books since DC launched it’s Rebirth line. It has been a great read month in and month out. Williamson may in fact been the best writer that Barry Allen has ever had. This issue continues that trend and gives us a book that you can’t peel your eyes away from!

Fuerza is looking for the Flash at the beginning of the issue at the Flash Museum. There is a lot of destruction that has happened. Barry arrives and shows her that he has grown stronger. Things are getting crazier and Barry is becoming the stronger that he has ever been.

Then we see a scene where Captain Cold visits his sister. He tells her all about Lex Luthor’s offer and that he would like for her to join him and his gang.

She says that she is out of that lifestyle. But by the end of the scene he may have convinced her. It’s a nice ominous scene for sure.

Iris then appears before Barry. She tells him that they have to talk about Wally. They have a tense conversation.

Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Hunter Zoloman appears! Hunter kidnaps Steadfast! But why? And for what purpose? It seems like there are a lot of things going against Barry.  Can he contend with him all?
By the end of the issue, the Rogues are in place. It seems like all hell is about to let loose. It looks to be a heck of a lot of fun that is coming our way. This is a great creative team and they are doing a great job.

I hope Sandoval sticks with this for the long haul. He is an incredible artist who amplifies the story like you wouldn’t believe. This is a strong and reliable comic book every time it comes out.

RATING: A-
