Well, here we are.
The beginning of Joshua Williamson’s final story arc on this title. He has had a hell of a lengthy run on this book thus far. I will be sad to see him go.
That being said, he starts this storyline off with a hell of a first chapter and I was on the edge of my seat throughout.
The opening scene has a bit of a twist on the usual monologue where Barry tells the reader that he is the “fastest man alive.”
I won’t spoil it, however, as it plays perfectly into the rest of the comic. We then quickly cut over to New Mexico where Bart is hanging out with a few friends.
Suddenly, Barry appears and startles Bart. Barry tells Bart that he has been meaning to spend time with him. Bart then agrees to go with Barry for a run.
This “run” turns into something sinister. This “Barry” isn’t the Barry we know and love. So who is it?
Bart goes through time and space with this “Barry” before realizing what is happening.
They see some old friends in some dire straights. Bart eventually figures out that this isn’t Barry that he is dealing with. He then has to fight this Barry and figure out just what the hell is actually going on.
By the end of the issue, we get to see that the Jay Garrick Flash will have a role in this story. It is a great set up issue and I am excited for the the end. Both the story and the artwork are tops here.
I can’t wait to see where we are going.
