It seems like the Flash has been infected by the Strength Force!
Everything is going out of control! Barry looks like the Flash on steroids and it’s all a bit silly. He fights against the Trickster who also has been infected by the Strength Force. This leads into a duel that is just pure and unadulterated destruction.
The first half of the issue is basically a brawl and it’s a groaner to be honest. The dialogue falls flat and the visuals were borderline dumb.
It felt rather cartoonish and I was just bored. It felt like we were circling the drain.
Luckily and thankfully, this book turned around.
The Flash loses his Strength Force powers and the book finally becomes readable again. I don’t blame Williamson for trying something new, it just didn’t really work.
At least he tried though.
Then, the Trickster loses the Strength Force as well and the story comes into focus. The Trickster then has something traumatic happen to him (I won’t say what) but it leads into the end of the story. There’s a big wow moment at the end and I was back to loving this book.
The whole issue felt unbalanced but at least it ended well. That always makes a difference. The art is also decent on the non silly parts and Duce has a great sense of storytelling.
It started off awful but quickly got better. And sometimes, that’s all that matters.
